Bazeley Road 4

Just over a week since becoming Gloucester’s newest social housing provider, advice Gloucester City Homes is celebrating achieving planning consent on its first development site at Bazeley Road, Matson.

The planned three houses and three bungalows to be built will be completed this financial year and provide affordable housing for three families and three households in need of single storey living. The new housing is part of the promise GCH made to build houses after becoming a social landlord. GCH has been working with its partners ARK Housing to provide development support which has led to a comprehensive service in delivering its new housing programme.

Construction will begin on the Bazeley Road site in the next few months and is the first of five planned new building developments by GCH in Gloucester this year. It will be lead to more GCH houses being built over the next few years for those in need of quality, affordable homes in the City of Gloucester.

Gloucester City Homes, Chief Executive Ashley Green said: I am delighted to announce the first development site for new affordable housing in the City. Due to the hard work of all GCH staff, our tenants and also the commitment of the City Council, we can start to make a positive difference to housing, the local economy and providing apprentice ship opportunities as a result of our programme of new developments now and in the future.

Andrew Harley, Chair of the Housing Futures Panel said: As a tenant of GCH I am so pleased that it is already developing new homes so quickly after transfer. This is great news for tenants and this City in terms of economic growth.
