A meeting is taking place in Tredworth tonight to discuss progress on an action plan to improve the relationship between police and the black community in the county.

The plan was agreed with the community earlier this year after a research team investigated why satisfaction with Gloucestershire Police was lower in this demographic group than other sections of the community.

Disproportionate use of stop and search, drug seek a discourteous service from some officers and a lack of cultural awareness were amongst the factors identified.

Police signed up members of the community to work with officers on delivering the plan, medicine which has looked at a number of themes such as professionalism and service delivery within the force.

People are invited to attend the event at Tredworth Junior School, which starts at 7pm this evening.
