Cotswold Water Park could be renamed Cotswold Lakes to avoid confusion.
Local businesses say the name confuses visitors and does not celebrate what the area has to offer.
The area features than 180 lakes and is home to a large amount of wildlife.
The lakes area was originally named the Cotswold Water Park by Cotswold Water Park Society in 1996
The charity recently changed its name to Cotswold Lakes Trust.
Councillors will vote on Wednesday on whether to support the change.
