A Gloucestershire drama group has raised over £500 for a local charity.
Bishops Cleeve Players (BCP) handed over a cheque for £544.50 to the local charity Gloucestershire Bundles. This money was collected over the past 12 months from members of the audience attending the various BCP shows. The amount was topped up by BCP members themselves.
The presentation was made as BCP are preparing to celebrate their 70th anniversary by performing again the first play that they put on all those years ago – “The Hollow” by Agatha Christie. This is after a busy 2024 where they staged three different plays, including one which they toured around local village halls.
Gloucestershire Bundles is a charity providing emergency packs of toiletries, clothing and equipment to pregnant women and families with children up to the age of 16, who find themselves in crisis situations. Christmas is always a busy time for the charity so they were delighted to receive this donation.
Dawn Dolphin, chair of Gloucestershire Bundles, said “We were delighted to receive the cheque from Bishops Cleeve Players which will make a significant difference to the work of our charity. We are extremely grateful for their support. This donation will mean that we are able to continue providing essential items, such as warm clothing for children and young teens, which are particularly necessary at this time of the year.”
“This was the first year that we nominated a specific charity for the year and the response from our audiences has been amazing”, said Simon Waller, the meeting Chairman of Bishops Cleeve Players. “Gloucestershire Bundles does such good work for communities across the county and we felt it a really worthwhile charity to support.”
“The Hollow” is being performed by Bishops Cleeve Players on 28th, 29th and 30th of March.
