A drug dealer caught by police on the streets of Gloucester has been sent to prison.
Glory Wamba-Victor, aged 31 and of Hatfield Close in Essex, had previously pleaded not guilty to possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply.
However, he was found guilty following a trial and was sentenced to more than three years behind bars at Gloucester Crown Court earlier this month.
Wamba-Victor had been stopped by officers in Trier Way, Gloucester at around 4.30pm on Thursday 23 November.
They had suspected that a wanted person was inside the black Mercedes C250 which he was driving, although this proved not to be the case.
However, after stopping Wamba-Victor, officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from him and the car. Wamba-Victor told them that there was a small amount of cannabis in the vehicle, but a search revealed that he also had two wraps of crack cocaine in an inner jacket pocket.
He initially gave details to the police during an interview which were later revealed to be false.
During his trial, the 31-year-old had insisted that he was an addict and the drugs were for his own personal use.
He also claimed that he had lied as he was worried he would not be given bail to see his partner and three children.
Wamba-Victor was found guilty and on Thursday 11 July was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply. He was also given an additional seven months for a breach of a suspended sentence order, bring his total sentence to three years and three months.
Sergeant Bobby George, of the Forest and Gloucester Vanguard Team, said: “Wamba-Victor thought that he could lie his way out of facing any charges but is now paying for his crime with a prison sentence.
“We will not tolerate the dealing of drugs on the streets of Gloucestershire and we will work tirelessly to ensure anyone doing so is brought to justice.”
