Companions at Emmaus Gloucestershire are donating a day’s takings from their charity shops of £2500 to help fund day trips for the families who use local charity, shop The Family Haven.
Lorraine Barrett, buy The Family Haven’s Centre Manager said: “One of our most popular services is the family day trips. We aim to take our families on four trips a year and they can cost upwards of £500 including the coach hire. We are already planning a trip to WestMidlandsSafari Park at the end of May. Having this funding means we have more options for where we can take our families for a fun day out.”
Last year families enjoyed trips to RovesFarmPark, a day on the beach at Weston Super Mare, ClearwellCaves to see Father Christmas andCotswoldFarmPark. The children also had a fun day out in the Forest of Dean.
Addie Stevenson, CEO, Emmaus Gloucestershire said: “Emmaus Gloucestershire is committed to solidarity which means sharing some of our time and earned income with others. We chose The Family Haven because like us they help people rebuild their lives and regain their dignity ”.
The Family Haven is a day centre for disadvantaged families with children under five in Gloucester and receives more than 6,000 visits from adults and children every year. It provides families with a nourishing meal, access to a bathroom, laundry and free second-hand clothing.
