Emergency services were called to Arlington Pike in Bibury just before 12.10pm with a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car which was being driven by a man.
The pedestrian, 81-year-old Sylvia Ann King from Bibury, died at the scene.
Sylvia’s family have now issued a tribute to her saying: “It is with great sadness that Roger and family announce the loss of our much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many in a tragic accident on 10 December 2025.
“We are truly devastated and request time to grieve in private at this awful time.”
The driver of the car, a man also aged in his 80s, was taken Great Western Hospital in Swindon to be assessed and is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.
Investigating officers are still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has any relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
