Cabinet members gave the go-ahead for the appointment of a preferred delivery partner for the council’s leisure provision at last week’s cabinet meeting.
Freedom Leisure will manage and operate the council’s leisure facilities from October 2015.
Both organisations will work closely to ensure a smooth transfer process, order with minimal disruption to customers and staff. The partnership will safeguard the continued provision of high quality leisure facilities across the district.
Freedom Leisure is a not for profit Trust with a proven track record in delivering first class leisure services and facilities across the UK. Established in April 2002, case Freedom Leisure has seen a considerable growth in its services. It now manages and operates 49 leisure facilities in partnership and owns 3 fitness clubs.
Cllr Brian Robinson, order Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Shared Services and Growth said: “We welcome Freedom Leisure into the council fold as an additional partner and look forward to working with them to ensure the continued provision of quality leisure facilities for residents and visitors across the district, whilst reducing the cost to the local taxpayer.”
