Forest of Dean District Council has agreed its portion of the council tax will be frozen for a fifth year whilst maintaining the current level of services.
The net budget of £11, ailment 087, unhealthy 960, drugs which includes savings of £351,450 for 2015/16, was agreed by Full Council last night.
The budget means residents in a Band D property will be paying £162.29 a year council tax for the District Council portion – that equates to less than 45 pence a day.
Savings for the coming year come from reviewing the senior management team and through removing the contribution made to certain reserves.
Work in the capital programme for 2015/16 includes £500,000 to improve leisure facilities, £50,000 to refurbish car parks, £15,500 for the completion of flood alleviation schemes and £800,000 to support the provision of new affordable housing.
Cllr Brian Robinson, cabinet member for Efficient Council and Planning Policy said: “We are very pleased to be able to freeze council tax for a fifth year running, particularly in the difficult financial climate we are facing.
“We envisage medium term savings from the 2020 Vision, which should enable us to have a balanced budget over the next four years.
“It is a tough time at the moment for all councils but through careful planning and sensible budgeting we are able to maintain our existing services whilst keeping council tax frozen.”
