Come along to free rounders sessions at Stratford Park and Dursley Recreation Ground. It’s an initiative backed by Stroud District Council, clinic as part of its health and wellbeing programme to get people active, and Rounders England.

Martha Watkins, healthy lifestyle coordinator for Stroud District Council said: “Rounders is a fantastic sport to play whatever your age. It can be enjoyed by everyone from the complete beginner to the seasoned pro. It’s a simple way for families to keep fit – and also a great way for stressed workers to unwind. When you ask people about rounders it brings a smile to their faces, revisiting memories of a fun, team sport they played at school. We’re keen to get people involved in rounders this summer.”

The free sessions take place on Mondays at 6pm in Stratford Park, Stroud close to the Astroturf pitch to the rear of the leisure centre, between now and 7 September 2015 (apart from Bank Holiday Monday) and Thursdays at 6pm at Dursley Recreation Ground until 3 September 2015.

The sessions are aimed at people aged 14 or over and last for an hour, or until rain stops play. Hannah Drew, sports development officer, for Stroud District Council said:

“The emphasis of these sessions is on the fun. It’s a great chance to make new friends, keep fit and generally have a great evening outside in the park.”

No booking is required – anyone can just turn up and play. For more information, please contact Hannah Drew, Sports Development Officer on 01453 754384
