Labour’s Dr Simon Opher has been elected as the next MP for Stroud.
Former Tory MP Siobhan Baillie came in second place.

Speaking afterwards, Dr Opher said: “I stood for Parliament because I realised that I could do more for people’s health by tackling inequality there than being a doctor here.”
“To understand any service properly you need to listen to the people who use it and work on the frontline. It could be very easy to get removed from reality as an MP and believe your own hype.”
“I am determined to be the best MP I can, and to think creatively about the problems we face. We need to find as many ways as possible for our communities to shape our solutions.”
