Headway Gloucestershire has received a boost from Severn Trent Community Fund.
The local charity is dedicated to improving life after brain injury and provides essential services across Gloucestershire for people with acquired brain injuries, their partners, families, friends and carers.
Around 100 people each week use either its Enablement Centre in Gloucester, Community Links Service or social support groups.
The new funding from the Severn Trent Community Fund, which awards grant money to support three elements of community wellbeing – people, places and environment, means Headway Gloucestershire can deliver more support across our large County.
Christopher Johnson, a Trustee with Headway Gloucestershire, says: “We’re delighted that the Severn Trent Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. We’re thankful for the funding so that we’ll be able support people living with an acquired brain injury and their families. This is important because it helps both the individual and their families to build relationships with others facing similar challenges and to create their own supportive circles of friends and peers.”
Jade Gough, Severn Trent Community Fund Officer, said: “At the end of last year we temporarily re-focused our Community Fund to offer much needed core funding support for organisations supporting our communities that need a helping hand. Through that we’re really pleased to have been able to support Headway Gloucestershire and all the incredible work they do, helping to make sure they can continue to be there for people with an acquired brain injury and their families, and reach and support more people all across the county.”
