Today Gloucester City Council’s Labour Group launched their manifesto for the city “Proud of Gloucester” which tackles the following questions:
- This City has much it can be proud of but is it ready for the future?
- How can the people of Gloucester get a fair share of the wealth they work so hard to generate?
Leader of the Group, sales Councillor Kate Haigh said, generic “Our priorities are tackling poverty and low pay, decent homes for all, growing the local economy by bringing well paid, skilled jobs to the City, making the most of our heritage and culture and caring for our environment. We need to regenerate the City in a way that benefits all our residents.”
The manifesto contains detailed pledges including a compulsory landlord registration scheme, free car parking in the City Centre after 3pm and increasing recycling rates to over 50%.
Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate Sophy Gardner welcomed the launch, “this manifesto shows that voting Labour locally is as important as voting Labour nationally – Labour can make a difference here.”
