A new intergenerational partnership has been launched between Brunswick House Nursing & Residential Home and Ribston High School, bringing students and residents together through shared activities and conversation.
The first visit took place this week, filling the home with laughter, warmth, and lively chatter as pupils joined residents for games, puzzles, and tea. The collaboration will now see students visiting on a weekly basis, helping to build lasting bonds between young and older generations.
“The atmosphere was incredible — you could see the residents light up the moment the students walked in,” said the home’s activity coordinator. “These visits bring so much energy and joy into our home, and it’s wonderful to see young and older generations connecting so naturally.”
The initiative aims to foster understanding and empathy between age groups, giving residents an opportunity to share their stories and experiences while students gain valuable insight into life’s later stages.
Brunswick House staff said they are already looking forward to next week’s visit, confident that the partnership will continue to create meaningful memories for everyone involved.
A spokesperson added their thanks to Ribston High School for its support and enthusiasm, saying the visits are a reminder that “sometimes, it’s the simplest moments that mean the most.”
