Wales & West Utilities is preparing to begin major gas pipe upgrade works in Gloucester.
The project will take place along Longford Lane, starting on May 11 and expected to finish by the end of July.
Engineers say the work is essential to keep gas supplies safe and reliable for homes and businesses.
Temporary multi-way traffic lights will be in place during the works, which have been planned in coordination with Gloucestershire County Council.
Officials say the upgrades will also help prepare the network for future green energy use.
Residents are being advised to plan ahead for possible delays while the work is carried out.
