Part of historic Gloucestershire pub could soon be turned into holiday lets.
Forest of Dean District councillors are set to consider plans for the Kings Head in Blakeney next week.
The proposals include converting part of the Grade II listed former public house into a commercial unit and two holiday lets.
Around 915 square feet of the ground floor is proposed to be used to provide a holiday let, while around 1,400 square feet would be kept to be used as either a pub, café or restaurant.
Architects working on the plans say they include several improvements to the exterior of the building such as the removal of the single storey flat roof covering along the front of the building, with the window and door featuring hipped roofs instead.
The proposals also feature the reinstatement of a window that had been previously blocked up and the removal of a protruding section of wall to the front to return to the mono pitched roof on the single storey element to the west of the building.
A new window is also proposed in the east side of the building along with three new rooflights above the flat roofed extension on the east of the building.
Council officers recommend approving the scheme as the benefits outweigh any negative aspects
However, some 21 local residents have objected to the proposals raising concerns over the loss of community facility, lack of parking and road safety.
They also say the design is not sympathetic to the listed building and the flats are too small with a lack of natural light .
Many of the objectors say that despite their concerns they welcome the regeneration of the building.
One local resident has written in support of the scheme.
Councillors will decide the fate of the building at the planning committee meeting on November 9.
