Gloucester is set to host its biggest-ever community rugby event next Saturday, 30 August, as King’s Square is transformed for the Rugby Takeover in honour of the Women’s Rugby World Cup.
Running from 10:30am to 7:00pm, the free event will feature live screenings of all the day’s matches – including England’s Red Roses against Samoa – on a giant outdoor cinema screen.
Alongside the sporting action, there will be interactive rugby sessions, VR matchday experiences, kids’ activities, and history talks as part of the Gloucester History Festival. Visitors can also enjoy live music from The Music Works, street food from Gloucester Food Dock, and appearances from Gloucester Rugby players.
Organised by Gloucester Rugby in partnership with local businesses, the takeover promises a family-friendly day of sport, entertainment, and community spirit at the heart of the city.
