A road marking spelling mistake has caused laughter in a Gloucestershire town.
Cinderford residents were amused to find the recently painted charging bays in Station Street were for “electric vehicels only”.
Reform UK Councillor Ray Donaghue, who represents the town at Gloucestershire County Council, reported the issue on Monday, July 27.
And the road marking was repainted the following day.
“It’s one of those things and it’s made us laugh,” he said.
“I’ve seen a ‘Worchester’ sign and ‘no parkeng’ before but I think ‘electric vehicels only’ is a new one.
“It made me think of the ‘no regerts’ tattoo phenomenon.
“Normally, if I reported this it would take 28 days but I bet the contractors sparked into action and were out like a flash this morning (July 28).”
Liberal Democrat Councillor Mark Harris (Cirencester North with Ermin), who is the cabinet member for highways at Gloucestershire
County Council, said the misspelling has now been corrected.
“We thank Cllr Donaghue for bringing this to our attention,” he said.
“As soon as the error was realised, we contacted our contractors who fixed the issue on Tuesday morning.”
Shire Hall is responsible for maintaining around 3,200 miles of roads across the county.
