Police are appealing for information after a loose dog attacked a pony being ridden by a child.
The incident happened in Damery Lane in Berkeley at around 4pm on Wednesday.
Stroud District Council’s Animal Welfare Service said the dog is described as a dark brindle, big athletic looking dog possibly a Mastiff cross and was wearing a leather studded collar.
The dog did not appear to be with an owner at the time.
A spokeswoman for the Animal Welfare Service said: “The pony received injuries which have been treated and thankfully both the pony and child are OK, although obviously shaken.”
Anyone with information is being asked to get in touch with the police or Stroud District Council’s Animal Welfare Service.
