Gloucestershire College is once again opening its doors to prospective students and their parents for a new series of May Open Evenings; offering an opportunity to discover the wide range of courses available, try get advice on the right route to success for them and even apply for their course on the night.

The upcoming Open Evenings take place at Gloucester Campus on Monday 11 May; Royal Forest of Dean Campus on Wednesday 13 May; and Cheltenham Campus on Monday 18 May – from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

From A Levels, mind apprenticeships and vocational qualifications, to professional courses and higher education, Gloucestershire College delivers a diverse range of successful education and training programmes, and visitors this spring will have the chance to explore all of their options for September.

The College’s industry-experienced lecturers will be on hand to answer any course-specific questions, while the friendly Student Services and Advice and Guidance teams will also be happy to help prospective students understand their options and answer questions about courses, applications, financial assistance and enrolment.

There will also be the chance to check out the impressive campus facilities, which include modern libraries, purpose-built engineering and construction workshops, enterprise labs, theatres, nurseries, gyms and even hair and beauty salons.

Visitors can see the College basketball team, GC Blazers, in action on the court and enjoy construction demos at Gloucester Campus, while the Sixth Form centres in Cheltenham and the Forest of Dean will be displaying examples of student work across all subjects.

Plus, those who pre-register and attend a May Open Evening will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win four tickets to see pop sensations The Vamps perform live at Westonbirt Arboretum on Sunday 21 June.

Steve Weldon, Advice and Guidance Manager, said: “We’re approaching an important transition opportunity for those in Year 11 and above, and it’s essential that young people have the chance to make the best decision about what they want to do in the future.

“While A Levels and university are a recognisable route for many, these are not the only pathways to a successful career. Apprenticeships and vocational courses can be an equally rewarding choice, with many employers saying that those with vocational qualifications arrive better prepared for the world of work than those following purely academic qualifications.

“At Gloucestershire College, we ensure our students not only gain the qualifications but also the experience and work readiness skills employers are looking for, to put them in the best place to achieve their career goals once they finish their time with us.”
