A man suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision on the A40 last night.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision which happened around 7.45pm at Churcham near Gloucester.

It involved a red articulated heavy goods vehicle which was traveling in the general direction of Huntley and a grey Toyota RAV4 which was travelling in the opposite direction toward Gloucester.

The driver of the Toyota, a man aged in his 30s and from Gloucester, suffered serious injuries and remains in Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

The driver of the heavy goods vehicle suffered injuries which are not believed to be serious.

While an investigation took place the road was closed for a number of hours and the vehicles were recovered. The road has since reopened.

Investigating officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the collision or the vehicles involved who have not yet spoken to police to come forward.
