A member of staff from a car dealership in Gloucester who is petrified of heights took part in a charity skydive last Saturday and raised £150.
Marc Jeavons, who works at Wessex Garages on Mercia Road, jumped from a plane on April 18 in aid ofThe Leukaemia & Intensive Chemotherapy Fund (LINC).
Digital Sales Executive, Marc, who is 36 and lives in Churchdown, explained: “I was very nervous about the skydive but it was amazing. It was a great way to help me conquer my fear of heights, while also raising money for my dealership’s Charity of the Year at the same time.
“LINC supports patients and their families affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers. They are a relatively small charity, which aim to provide financial and psychological support to leukaemia and other cancer patients and their families in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and south Worcestershire.”
Most commonly LINC helps with travel expenses for family members to visit their loved ones in hospital but can also help with other expenses such as mortgage payments. As well as this it also helps to make a patients stay more comfortable by funding new reclining chairs, televisions and DVD players at the hospitals.
Marc did the tandem jump at Swindon Airfield with an experienced British Parachute Association Instructor. He free fell from 10,000 feet at 120 miles per hour for about 55 seconds.
Marc continued: “LINC is a fantastic charity and does such vital work supporting local people. I am delighted that I could do something to raise some much needed funds for them.”
