Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service has appointed Mick Berry as its new Assistant Chief Fire Officer.
Mick joined the service on 1 April after spending 28 years with Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, where he began his career in 1997 as an on call firefighter before progressing to become a wholetime firefighter and later an Area Manager.
In his previous role he was responsible for service delivery and had also worked in senior business services roles, overseeing major budgets and supporting inspections by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
Mick said he was pleased to take on the new position and described it as “a privilege to join the organisation” as he begins visiting stations and departments to meet staff across the service.
He said he is looking forward to contributing to shared priorities and helping develop the fire service to support local communities.
Councillor Paul Hodgkinson said Mick brings significant leadership and operational experience and will be a valuable addition as the service continues to strengthen its work across Gloucestershire.
