A vibrant new community space is set to open in Kings Square this autumn, as work begins to transform an empty shop into Proud Gloucester — a venue combining a coffee shop, bar, pizza café, and event hub.
Located next to Jane’s Pantry, the venue aims to provide a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for the LGBTQ+ community and the wider public. Organisers say the project will create a dynamic space that is open to everyone, seven days a week, from 9am.
Visitors will be able to enjoy freshly brewed coffee in the mornings, relax over pizza and drinks with friends, or take part in a programme of events designed to bring people together. The team behind Proud Gloucester says their goal is to make the venue a focal point for connection, creativity, and celebration in the city centre.
The opening is scheduled for October, just in time for the festive season.
“Proud Gloucester is all about community,” a spokesperson said. “We want to create a place that’s accessible, friendly, and vibrant — somewhere people feel comfortable whether they’re popping in for a quick coffee or coming along to one of our events.”
Proud Gloucester will announce further details of its launch events in the coming weeks.
