A Newent man has begun six years in jail for beating his wife over the head and trying to strangle her in a lock-up garage last summer.
60-year-old Richard Osborne from Newent pleaded guilty at Gloucester Crown Court to attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and attempted false imprisonment.
The admission was to a lesser charge, cure and as he had originally faced trial for attempted murder.
