UPDATE: Police can confirm that the concern for welfare incident at Merrywalks in Stroud has now safely resolved.
A man is now receiving the appropriate support and road closures which were in place have since been lifted.
Police are currently at the scene of a concern for welfare incident in Stroud.
Officers received a report of a man on the viaduct at Merrywalks at around 1.30am this morning.
Emergency services are in attendance and the A46 at Merrywalks is closed both ways while trained negotiators attempt to resolve the situation safely.
Network Rail are aware and all trains to and from Stroud have been temporarily stopped.
People are being asked to find alternative routes.
