Police in Cheltenham are warning residents to be vigilant after rogue traders scammed an elderly woman out of a £800 deposit for maintenance work and did not return.
Two men visited the woman who lives on Highwood Avenue in Leckhampton at around 12.30pm on Thursday 4 February and persuaded her to pay the deposit for her front garden wall to be repaired but never returned.
Fortunately two other properties which had work done were not scammed by the men.
The men were described as follows:
1) A white man who was 5ft 10ins tall, of a slim build and had short dark hair with facial hair. He was wearing a waterproof black jacket and possibly jeans.
2) A white man who was 6ft tall, of a medium build and had fair hair. He was possibly wearing a top and jeans.
Police are investigating and appealing for anyone with information, dashcam footage or CCTV to come forward.
