Cirencester’s Roman past will step into the present as the Corinium Museum welcomes the Ermine Street Guard for two action-packed days of living history this Easter.
The re-enactment group will take over the museum’s Hare Gallery on Friday 10 April and Saturday 11 April, with a full programme of demonstrations and activities designed for families and visitors of all ages.
Known for their historically accurate interpretation of Roman military life, the group will showcase battle formations, authentic equipment and the daily routines of Roman soldiers, bringing to life the museum’s permanent displays and celebrating Cirencester’s Roman heritage.
Younger visitors can enlist in Roman Soldier School, where they will learn about military training. Throughout the event, members of the Guard will also present a range of props and living history artefacts, offering an insight into the craftsmanship, materials and weaponry of the period.
Live demonstrations will take place at 10:30am, 1:30pm and 3pm on both days.
The event is included in the museum’s standard admission price and is sponsored by the Friends of the Corinium Museum.
