Around sixty organisations across the city have received Rugby World Cup 2015 community tickets.
Youth groups, viagra 60mg schools and churches in the city are among the lucky line-up who have got their hands on one or more of the 500 community tickets allocated to Gloucester from Rugby World Cup 2015.
These tickets are bringing Rugby to a wider audience, and allowing the RWC2015 to touch communities and individuals that would not necessarily get the opportunity to attend matches at this level and on this scale.
The chosen community groups are now nominating staff and volunteers who they think should be in for the chance of being part of the Rugby World Cup action.
Cllr Jennie Dallimore, deputy leader of Gloucester City Council, said “These tickets give a real boost to local groups dedicated to selflessly helping others. It’s a great gesture that really embraces the spirit of bringing people, nations and communities together through this fantastic sporting extravaganza.
We are proud to be able to inspire and reward some of the people who tirelessly keep giving to our local community.”
Four Rugby World Cup 2015 matches will be played at Kingsholm across September and October in the pool stages of the competition with local Rugby fans able to watch the likes of Argentina, Scotland and Georgia in action.
Community tickets are available for each of the games.
Maureen Parker, from Glos Bike Project, who refurbish all kinds of bikes to the highest standard, and pass them on at reasonable prices, said “Wow! We were so surprised to receive our tickets. We are delighted! It is so nice to be able to give this reward back to our fabulous volunteers.
We currently have 30 volunteers who all give up their time to help make this project a reality. What everyone shares is a passion for bikes, and a want to give something back to the community – without them there is no bike project.
There was no way we could choose between them all – so names were pulled from a hat – and our three winners can take a partner/member of family with them.
It’s given everyone a real lift here, and reminds us all that what we’re doing is appreciated and worthwhile.”
Jan Tapin, who has volunteered with the Furniture Recycling Project for the last four years, and who was picked out of a hat to receive a Rugby World Cup Ticket
“I was thrilled that my name came out of the hat, as I love watching rugby. I live in Kingsholm, so I won’t have far to go. I am looking forward to being part of the excitement and atmosphere of an international game at Kingsholm.”
The 500 tickets are divided to allow school children, young people, family support groups, volunteers, key community groups and some of our unsung heroes to enjoy the games held at Kingsholm.
