The popular Orchard Street Market at Gloucester Quays has been forced to cancel its Saturday opening (4 October) because of strong winds forecast for the weekend.

Organisers said the decision was “disappointing for everyone involved” but that safety of stallholders, visitors and staff had to come first.

The good news for shoppers is that Sunday’s market (5 October) is expected to go ahead as planned, running from 10am at the Quays. It will also mark the final monthly market of the year.

A spokesperson said: “Our stallholders will be ready and waiting for you all on Sunday – please come along and support them for the last market before the festive season.”

Traders will return for the annual Christmas Markets, which open every weekend from Saturday 8 November.
