Families can step back in time at a special Viking Activity Day taking place in Ewyas Harold on Friday 4 October.
The free event, organised by Herefordshire Museums & Galleries as part of the Revealing Our Roots project, runs from 10am to 4pm at the village’s Craft Centre.
Visitors will be able to follow a rune trail, meet Viking re-enactors from The Black Crows, play traditional games and handle replica treasures, including artefacts linked to the dramatic Herefordshire Hoard discovery. Other attractions include family craft sessions, a community art project, metal detecting with the Herefordshire Searchers, and woodturning demonstrations.
Local history groups will also be on hand, sharing stories from the Golden Valley and beyond.
Damian Etheraads, Head of Culture, Museums, Galleries and Archives at Herefordshire Council, said:
“This event will be a fantastic way for individuals and families to step into the world of the Vikings. The Herefordshire Hoard is one of the most remarkable treasure finds of recent times and shows how national events touched life here in dramatic ways.”
