A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder in Cheltenham has been released with no further action.

The arrest was made following the death of a 73-year-old man after an assault on Honeybourne Way on April 8.

Gloucestershire Police say a second teenager, aged 17, remains on police bail while enquiries continue.

The incident reportedly began when two males threw a large branch from a bridge toward a cyclist, before leaving the scene.

They were later approached by the victim, and an altercation took place during which the man was punched and fell to the ground.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died two days later.

The investigation is now being led by a Major Crime Investigation Team.

Police have previously released images of two males as part of their enquiries.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
