Three more people have been arrested in connection with a suspected stabbing in Cheltenham yesterday.
A murder investigation was launched after a man died in the town yesterday afternoon.
Two women and a man who are all from Cheltenham were arrested last night on suspicion of assisting an offender. They currently remain in police custody.
Emergency services were called to a report of a man being injured in an alleyway between Albert Street and Hungerford Street in the St Paul’s area.
A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. Two teenagers and a man were arrested on suspicion of murder shortly afterwards and they remain in police custody.
The Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) is in the early stages of its investigation, and there will continue to be a police presence in the area while enquiries take place at the scene.
Superintendent James Glansfield said: “Officers from the Cheltenham Neighbourhood Police Team are patrolling the area for reassurance and we encourage anyone with any concerns or questions to speak to them.
“The investigation team are extremely grateful to the members of the public who have come forward with information and we’re also grateful to the wider community for their patience and understanding while an examination of the scene continues.”
