The Museum in the Park has been given a VisitEngland accolade in recognition of the great experience the venue provides for visitors.
Two rounds of accolades are handed out each year, healing with 17 attractions across the country receiving them as part of this first round. The Museum in The Park is the only one in Gloucestershire to have ticked all the boxes in this round.
Kevin Ward, Development Manager at the Museum in the Park said:
“We are delighted to receive this recognition of all the hard work we do to ensure that our visitors have a high quality and enjoyable experience throughout their visit.”
The museum has been filling its summer programme with events such as allowing the public to get up close to the fossil of an ancient baby dinosaur – an ichthyosaur – which is approximately 190 million years old. Other events include Meet the Curator, where visitors get the chance to handle artefacts from the stores, such as Bronze Age hand axes, and also try to guess what some of the more unusual objects are.
James Berresford, Chief Executive of VisitEngland said: “These attractions have succeeded in receiving an accolade either for their warm welcome, unique storytelling or high-quality food and drink; ensuring an all-round quality experience for visitors. Our accolades reflect the wide variety of attractions on offer in England and provide the perfect reason to visit and explore the country.”
The award follows hot on the heels of the museum passing its assessment to be part of the Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme, run by VisitEngland, for the eighth year in a row. Members of the scheme represent a wide range of tourism attractions across England, from museums and galleries, farms, historic houses, gardens, churches, cathedrals and country parks.
