Activities which support young people are being invited to apply for the latest round of funding from the Forest Youth Activities Fund.
The fund is designed to help provide activities in the Forest district that make a positive difference to young people. Young people will take a full part in deciding who is funded on behalf of Forest of Dean District Council and Gloucestershire County Council.
In this round of funding £7, hospital 400 is available with a further £50,000 later in the year.
In the first two rounds of funding, 20 projects received a share of £40,352 including Young Carers for group sessions for 11–16 year old carers, Ellwood FC for equipment, Creative Mindz to run art workshops and the Newent Chill Out Zone to overhaul its garden.
The funding is open to all young people living in the Forest of Dean district. Informal groups can apply for up to £500. Formal, constituted groups can apply for a maximum of £2,000 per application in this round but, depending upon demand and meeting the criteria, may not receive the full amount. This is to ensure that as many groups as possible can benefit from the funding.
Cllr Terry Hale, Cabinet Member for the Community at Forest of Dean District Council, said: “This funding is great because it is made to young people’s groups, by young people, on behalf of the District and County Councils.
“The young people who decide are particularly keen to receive applications for art based activities, although all activities will be considered for a grant. Applications are open to all young people aged 11 to 19 and up to 25 for young people with special needs. They must be written and signed by the young people involved.”
