The Gloucester Stone Carving Festival returns to the city this weekend.
Carrie Horwood of Cat’s Eye Carving is holding the popular festival in Gloucester again this year at Llanthony Secunda Priory, viagra order two years after her first at the Priory.
The Gloucester Stone Carving Festival is on Saturday 23rd and 24th May.
Last time, try Llanthony Secunda Priory and the Gloucester Geology Trust benefited from the event to the tune of £2,000 – money the Priory desperately needed to help it carry out renovation work on buildings that date from the 12th century.
Carvings made by stonemasons on the weekend will auctioned off at 3pm on the Sunday with the profits again going to The Llanthony Secunda Priory Trust.
The stonemasons are given a block of stone generously donated by Veizeys Quarry in Tetbury and asked to carve an animal themed stone carving in less than two days.
“Yes this is possible” as Carrie explains that stonemasons have an ability to work above capacity almost like a burst of energy and adrenalin. If we worked like this all year long well we probably wouldn’t survive the year-physically that is.
“So with about 14hrs, good food and company it’s amazing what we can carve! “
There will be sideshows and stands, a chipper of masons carving amazing and wonderful creatures and the opportunity for visitors to have a go at stone carving themselves.
Like last time, the stone carving festival is being run in conjunction with the Tall Ships Festival in Gloucester Docks.
