The Salvation Army in Cheltenham has launched its annual Christmas Present Appeal to help ensure children from families in need receive a gift on Christmas Day.

Last year, the charity distributed 500 food parcels and 588 toys, gifts and vouchers to local people.

Organisers say rising living costs could mean more families need support this year.

Donations of new, unwrapped toys and gifts will be accepted from 1 November until 13 December.

Items can be dropped off at the Salvation Army church on Bath Road or its donation centre on Rutherford Way.

The charity is also accepting financial donations, with gifts distributed through local schools, community groups and social services.
