Having been situated upstairs in the Food Court for over 20 years, cialis the food court operation has now moved to the ground floor of the Eastgate Shopping Centre. The newly branded café will now feature in the Bell Walk area, prostate alongside other shops and eateries.
When discussions of moving the Eastgate Market upstairs into the Food Court began, doctor a further relocation was also up for discussion; the relocation of the current tenant into the newly branded Chequers Café downstairs. While plans about the future location of the Eastgate Market are still unconfirmed, Chequers Café were open for business from unit 2 Bell Walk, as of Monday 11th August.
The café operation has been situated in the Food Court for over 20 years and they’ve enjoyed serving regular and new faces throughout this time, with customers including locals and visitors to the city. The café has taken advantage of the move to expand their food and drink offerings and refresh their brand image, in order to appeal to new customers and attract more footfall through the doors.
There have been many conversations surrounding the future of the Eastgate Market. Initial plans outlined the intention to move the Market into a refurbished area designed for the purpose on the first floor by April 2015, in a bid to reinvigorate the market offer. The consultation process and final decision is being handled by Gloucester City Council and is still yet to be announced.
Ray Chisholm, Owner of Chequers Cafe, said: “Whilst the plans for the market have halted, my discussions continued and I’m thrilled that we’ve moved location and are now downstairs within the Eastgate Shopping Centre. We’ve seen the move as an opportunity to refresh our offering, make the café trendier and raise the level of what we offer. We’ve been open for a week now and it’s been an encouraging start.
“Some of our older regular customers were used to the location we had upstairs, so it does take some adjustment, but they’re still coming in to see us and enjoying the new things we have on offer. We’ve also found that we’re attracting lots of new customers. It’s a change for some of our regulars and it’s a change for us too; although the café is now situated downstairs, our kitchen is still upstairs so we’re adjusting by using a dumbwaiter, which is doing the trick perfectly. It’s all very exciting for us and we embrace the opportunity we’ve been given to make the café the best it can be, for new visitors and old.”
Jason Robinson, Centre Manager at the Eastgate Shopping Centre, said: “The relocation of Chequers Café is great news for the Centre, regardless of whether or not the Market moves location. The café has been upstairs for more than 20 years and we hope that the move will attract new customers alongside the regulars, and that business will boom for the company.”
