Stroud Town Council is purchasing two unused phone boxes from BT and is inviting community groups to put them to good use. Could you take on this exciting project?
The council is looking for local groups interested in maintaining these phone boxes for the benefit of the community. Other adopted phone boxes across the country have been turned into community libraries, book and plant exchanges, food banks, and art installations.
Cllr Liz Hillary said: “I’ve always had a soft spot for these old phone boxes, and it would be great to see a local community group take one on and find a fresh, creative use for it.”
The phone boxes are centrally located at the corner of Kendrick Street and Russell Street, next to Café Fifteen. There are three phone boxes at this site, one of which will remain in use
Once purchased, Stroud Town Council will support with some initial cleaning of the phone boxes. The selected group will then be responsible for maintaining the phone boxes and ensuring they serve the community well.
