More than 6000 Cotswold homes and businesses will benefit from an ultrafast broadband connection by the end of 2017.

Residents in Seven Springs will be the first to benefit from access to faster broadband speeds, ambulance with connections ready in time for Christmas.

The direct fibre connection, which is being delivered by broadband provider Gigaclear, will give residents access to faster internet speeds of up to one Gigabit per second.

The full rollout schedule for phase two of Fastershire’s ultrafast broadband in the Cotswolds is now available atwww.fastershire.com/phase2

The rollout will take place in four parts. The first communities will include Coberley, Cockleford, Colesbourne, Cowley and Elkstone, all of which will have access to Gigaclear’s network by March 2016.

Cllr Mark Hawthorne, Leader of Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Communities are understandably eager to find out when they will have access to ultrafast speeds, and I’m really pleased to publish the schedule for the rollout.

“We expect the first residents to be able to benefit from a vastly improved service before Christmas, less than two months after the first digging began at the end of October.”

Matthew Hare, Chief Executive of Gigaclear, said: “We are off to a great start with this project, with the first ultrafast fibre cabinet due to go live in a few weeks’ time in December. This means the first to receive the service will have ultrafast broadband in their homes and businesses in time for Christmas.

“Our partnership, and the support received from the Fastershire team is helping us deliver this project on time, bringing speeds up to 40 times faster than the UK average to residents and businesses across the Cotswolds.”

Fastershire and Gigaclear will hold local events in advance of engineering works to inform residents giving them the opportunity to ask questions and find out about the rollout in their area. Find out more athttp://www.gigaclear.com/events/
