Today’s crowd amounted to 70,242, the highest attendance figure of the four days.
Cheltenham has capped the attendance to make the experience of racegoers better. Last year’s crowd on Gold Cup Day was 68,957, while the record figure for the day was 70,765 in 2012.
The total for the four days – 260,579 – was a new Festival record.
Another impressive crowd of 65,544 attended Cheltenham Racecourse yesterday, easily topping last year’s record of 60,495 for the third day, St Patrick’s Thursday, since The Festival went to four days in 2005. The increase over last year amounted to 5,549 racegoers (+8.5%).
Wednesday’s attendance came to 57,093, up 1,734 (+3.1%) from the 55,359 last year on the second day of The Festival, Ladies Day. This is a record crowd for the second day since The Festival went to four days in 2005.
Tuesday’s crowd of 67,700 (2015 – 63,249) was a new record attendance for the opening day, Champion Day, of The Festival.
