Forest of Dean District Council has marked a major milestone in the redevelopment of Five Acres with a topping out ceremony.

The event celebrated the completion of the building’s highest structural point.

More than £3.8 million of construction work has been completed so far, with refurbishment of the Speedwell Building also under way.

The new facility will include a gym, exercise studios, soft play area, café, community spaces and an outreach base for Hartpury University.

The wider development will also feature a floodlit 3G pitch and spectator facilities.

Energy-saving measures will include solar panels, air source heat pumps, improved insulation and electric vehicle charging points.

The project is being delivered through the Levelling Up the Forest programme.
