A stoma charity from Gloucester is celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious national award recognising excellence in the not-for-profit care sector.
Footprints 2 Africa, based in Gloucester, has been named a finalist in the Compassion category at this year’s Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, which celebrates outstanding work across the UK’s not-for-profit care sector.A stoma charity from Gloucester is celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious national award recognising excellence in the not-for-profit care sector.
Now in its 12th year, the awards are organised by Care Management Matters (CMM) in partnership with the National Care Forum, recognising the dedication, innovation and positive impact in care services supporting children and adults.
The shortlisting recognises Footprints 2 Africa for their work in redistributing donated ostomy supplies to under-resourced hospitals, nonprofit organisations and individuals across Africa, ensuring dignity, continuity of care and reduced medical waste through a volunteer-led humanitarian model.
Commenting on the news, Sam Yiollaris said: “It’s a real honour to be shortlisted for a national award and to have our work recognised alongside so many inspiring individuals and organisations from across the country.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Town Hall Birmingham on Friday 17 April, bringing together leaders from health and social care nationwide.

The Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards are free to enter and open to anyone working in the not-for-profit care sector. Entries for next year’s awards will open later this year.
