A Gloucester drug dealer has been jailed after being spotted by officers on patrol as he sold cocaine and heroin in the city.
Carl Lee, aged 35 and of Tewkesbury Road, was sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court last month after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to two counts of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
Two plain clothes officers who were out on patrol in the city had spotted two men meet with Lee near Longford Roundabout on 16 April this year.
One of the men was arrested a short distance from the location and found to have Class A drugs on him. Further investigations lead police to Lee.
Lee was seen again by officers on Tewkesbury Road later that day, and was arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs.
Following a search of a caravan where he was living, officers discovered crack cocaine and heroin with a street value of £6,200. Almost £1,000 in cash and a burner phone were also seized.
While being searched by police, Lee admitted that he had swallowed some of the drugs and was subsequently taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Lee was sentenced to three years in prison when he appeared at Gloucester Crown Court on 23 June.
Sergeant Bobby George, from the Neighbourhood Support Team, said: “Lee wrongly thought that his actions would not be noticed, but it is a credit to our officers who spotted him in the act of selling drugs.
“We will not tolerate drug dealing in our towns and city, where people have a right to live and work without fear.”
