A Gloucester man has been jailed for more than three years after admitting supplying drugs and stealing from a shop during a police investigation.
Stacey Brookman, 37, of Gimson Close in Tuffley, was sentenced to three years and three months at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, 20 October, after pleading guilty to multiple drug offences and theft.
Brookman, who had moved from Gloucester to South Wales to study, came to the attention of police in early 2025 when intelligence suggested he was supplying Class A drugs to fellow university students. The Organised Crime Unit began examining claims that he was dealing on and around campus.
While officers were developing that intelligence, Brookman was linked to a separate shoplifting incident. On 1 May 2025, CCTV identified him stealing a pair of headphones from a retailer on Taff Street, Pontypridd. He was arrested shortly afterwards.
A search of a property on Windsor Road in Treforest uncovered the stolen goods, along with a haul of illegal substances including cocaine, cannabis and drug-dealing equipment such as weighing scales and small bags. When Brookman was taken to hospital, officers later recovered further drugs hidden on his person, including crack cocaine and Valium tablets.
Although he was granted bail due to medical treatment, Brookman discharged himself within hours. He was arrested again shortly afterwards when his landlord contacted police, leading to the discovery of another bag of white powder.
Brookman admitted supplying Class A and B drugs, possessing cocaine and cannabis, and theft from a shop.
Police said the case highlights the determination of officers to tackle drug supply networks affecting students and local communities.
