Gloucester’s love of local food was celebrated this week as the city’s new Gloucester Soup initiative officially launched with a free taste-testing event at Gloucester Park Community Café.

Held on Thursday, 16 October, the lunchtime event drew in dozens of visitors eager to sample a variety of homemade soups and vote for their favourite flavour to feature on the café’s menu for the rest of October.

The event — part of a partnership between Project Grow, Gloucester Park Community Café, and Nourishing Gloucester, with funding from Gloucester City Council — showcased locally grown ingredients and community collaboration at its best.

Guests also shared their #SoupStories, celebrating the role of food in bringing people together. Organisers said they were “delighted” with the turnout and the positive feedback from attendees.

The winning soup will now be added to the café’s menu, continuing the spirit of community choice and local produce throughout the autumn.
