A talk is being held to highlight Gloucester’s link to the US Declaration of Independence ahead of its 250th anniversary.
One of the signatories, Button Gwinnett, was born at Down Hatherley near Gloucester and lived for a time near the Cathedral.
He signed the Declaration as a delegate for Georgia, where Gwinnett County is named after him.
The talk will be given by Colin Gwinnett Sharp, a descendant of Button Gwinnett and author of a book about his life.
It takes place at 7pm on Friday 3 July at St Mary de Crypt in Southgate Street.
Tickets cost £7 and are available through the St Mary de Crypt website or in person from the church.
