Two charities based in the county have each received a £1,000 funding boost as part of Benefact Group’s Movement for Good Awards to support their vital work.
Goals Beyond Grass based in Gloucester, offers inclusive physical and social activities for disabled individuals across the county. The charity received a donation, alongside The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals.
The Foundation supports retired service animals, ensuring they receive veterinary care into their twilight years, meaning their handlers can afford to keep them. When an animal’s career ends due to age or health issues, the financial support they relied on during their service to cover veterinary care, training, stables, food, kennels and equipment, ceases. The charity works tirelessly to ensure these animals remain with the people they know and love, providing them the comfort and stability they’ve earned and deserve.
Operations Manager, Susan Steele from The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals said: “The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals (NFRSA) were honoured to receive a recent Movement for Good Award from the Benefact Group. The incredibly generous donation will have a direct impact on our core mission, which is to support retired service animals from the Police, Prison, Fire and Border Force Services. The £1,000 received has enabled us to help dogs like retired prison dog Max who needed an operation after suffering from an ear haematoma, and retired police dog blade, who needs ongoing medication for osteoarthritis.”
The Movement for Good Awards is a nationwide initiative by Benefact Group, donating over £1 million to charities across the UK and Ireland each year. Members of the public can nominate causes close to their hearts, with regular funding rounds taking place throughout 2025.
