Gloucestershire Constabulary is joining police forces across the country and taking part in this year’s Safer Business Action Week.
The week of action, which is running from Monday 10 to Sunday 16 November aims to highlight the commitment of police forces in supporting businesses and ensuring that retail crime is identified and investigated.
This is the fourth annual Safer Business Action (SaBA) Week organised by the National Business Crime Centre and involves every police force in England and Wales.
Neighbourhood Policing teams across the county will be taking part in a range of activity such as targeting shoplifters, undertaking proactive patrols of retail crime hotspots, talking to shop owners to discuss security and engaging with local communities to discuss how everyone can play their part.
This activity will see teams work closely with partner agencies to fully utilise every resource available and jointly show that shoplifting and other retail crimes won’t be tolerated in Gloucestershire.
Teams will be sharing details of their work throughout the week, and more information can be found on the Neighbourhood Policing Team Facebook pages.
While planned activity is designed to raise awareness and clamp down on business-related criminality, officers work every day to tackle issues that stores and customers alike experience.
Chief Inspector Ash Shingler, deputy retail crime lead for Gloucestershire Constabulary, said: “Safer Business Action Week provides us with a great opportunity to engage with retailers and businesses and show our commitment to keeping shops safe.
“While we work all year round to look after our business communities, the week allows us to reaffirm our dedication to ensuring that we are clamping down on all manner of crimes that affect stores.”
Steve Lindsay from Gloucestershire Safe added: “Our partnership with Gloucestershire Police is pivotal in tackling business crime. Through shared intelligence, we’ve built a model of collaboration that truly works.
“SABA Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the strength of that partnership and the positive impact it has on our business communities every day.”
