Major progress has been made on the journey to transform Kings Square at the heart of the city.
Plans to revamp Kings Square have been on the cards for many years with residents and visitors calling for action to be taken to improve this important area.
Gloucester City Council has made this one of its top priorities and a lot of work has taken place over the past year with more planned in the next few months.
April 2014 saw the long-awaited demolition of the Golden Egg building and repaving of the raised area, viagra sale which opened up the square and removed an ugly eyesore.
In November 2014, sale the city council installed bollards to prevent unauthorised vehicles driving onto the square to make the area safer for pedestrians and shoppers.
Raised brick planters outside Debenhams have been clad with timber and planting in the planters will hopefully be refreshed in early summer.
And changes have been made to improve the Kings Square market with stalls now all the same colour and locations of the stalls being rearranged make the market more compact and accessible.
Further improvement work is due to start next month and will continue into the summer.
The city council will be repainting the walls around the square, sales improving the paving and the resin surface between April and August this year. A new public toilet facility will also be installed during the summer.
Cllr Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council, said: “Kings Square is at the heart of our city and it is one of our top priorities to make sure it looks good and is accessible for everyone.
“We’ve already seen huge improvements in the square and as a result more and more people are using it and visiting the nearby shops, which is both good for tourism and our economy.
“The continued regeneration of this area will remain a priority for the city council and I look forward to seeing the changes take shape.”
